"A fire station will be setup in Sultanpettai to attend to fire accidents in cotton mills", -MNM manifesto for Sulur

Coimbatore : As part of his two-day campaign, Kamal Haasan, President of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) released a 12-point manifesto for Sulur assembly constituency on Saturday.


Coimbatore : As part of his two-day campaign, Kamal Haasan, President of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) released a 12-point manifesto for Sulur assembly constituency on Saturday. 

He released the manifesto at Irugur on Saturday evening and appealed to the voters to cast their votes to G. Mayilsami, MNM Candidate for Sulur assembly by-polls to be held on May 19. 

Manifesto 

1. MLAs monthly remuneration will be used for welfare activities. 

2. Action will be expedited to complete Anamalaiyar- Nallar Dam project, water sources will be increased.

3. As hundreds of cotton weaving and powerlooms are present in Sulur, as a matter of precaution, a fire station will be set up in Sultanpettai or Senjerimalai.

4. Organic farming will be encouraged. Farmers will be educated on the nuances of organic farming. 

5. Necessary action will be taken to supply purified drinking water from Athikadavu dam.

6. In a bid to benefit coconut farmers, coconut oil will be sold through public distribution system. 

7. Excess water from Noyyal will be diverted to through canals to water bodies in Bogampatti, Ponnanganni and Vaarapatti villages.

8. Cattle feeds will be given at subsidised price to farmers, thus helping them yield more profit. 

9. Solar panels will be set up in the reaidences of people involved in weaving. So that they could pursue work uninterrupted even during power cuts. MNM will raise voice against GST on Weavers. 

10. Steps will be taken to annihilate brokers in Handloom and power loom weavers. 

11. MNM will take necessary step to build Government Arts college and ITI in Sulur or Sultanpettai which will lead to increase employment opportunities. 

12. Railway junctions at Sulur, Irugur and Somanur will be upgraded.
